So, after months of unsuccessfully searching for a remnant of bright pink fake fur, I found some MoGlow mohair yarn from Texere Yarns. When they called the colour Putrid Pink, they weren't kidding - this stuff is seriously bright! So, I crocheted a little fluffy circle and stuck it onto the boss's tum (on the picture, of course!)
Of course, a little circle isn't going to use much of a ball of yarn, so I found myself left with the best part of a ball of fluorescent pink mohair yarn. Basically, a yarn I hate working with combined with a colour I generally wouldn't be seen dead in.
So, what to do with the remnants of this yarn?
As it happens, it's my neice's birthday coming up. She's going to be seven years old and has a bedroom decorated completely in pink. So, it seemed only right that I make something for her in pink, and this yarn seemed appropriate. After much deliberation, I decided to make a heart-shaped bag charm, and found a knitted heart pattern by Anna Hrachovec on her blog page.
A couple of hours later - lo and behold, I have created a monster:
It's pink, heart-shaped, fluffy and really quite useless in everyway except decoration. In fact, the shade of pink is so bright, the light from the camera flash just bounces off it.
Anyway, the birthday concerned is in few weeks, so for now I'm going to put it away until the day comes when I can wrap it up and hand it over. Having said that, it might come in handy as a cupboard light while it's in there...
